About the Exhibition:
While the world tries to comprehend the loss and devastation caused by the January 12 earthquake in Haiti, the New Orleans arts community has responded in force. This is only fitting, given the close geographical, historical and cultural ties between Haiti and south Louisiana.
To support Haiti's earthquake victims while honoring their connections with Louisiana, the CAC invited artist Tina Girouard (a longtime supporter and collector of Haitian art) to organize this exhibition of Haiti's unique sequin and metal artists.
Featured artists include: Antoine Oleyant, Georges Valris, Edgar St. Louis, Gabriel Bien-Aime and Pierrot Barra. Some of the works on display are offered for sale as a means of getting direct support to artists in Haiti.
This exhibition has been organized in collaboration with Haiti Arts. Special thanks to Tina Girouard in the United States and Dr. Jacques Bartoli in Haiti.
The exhibition will be on view during the CAC's regular gallery hours, Thursday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., until June 6.
