On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Jazz & Heritage Gallery will open a new exhibition by Brazilian photographer Alvaro Villela with a 6 p.m. reception.
The exhibit, entitled "Human Nature in Raso da Catarina," will be on display through Dec. 30.
Gallery admission is free. Regular opening hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Alvaro Villela is a Brazilian photographer who lives in Salvador, Bahia. He will exhibit his series of photographs that create a "snapshot" of life in Raso da Catarina, an area in his home state.
The exhibition will be held in conjunction with PhotoNOLA 2009, the fourth annual celebration of photography in New Orleans coordinated by the New Orleans Photo Alliance. Scheduled events will take place from Dec 1-13, with broad-ranging photography exhibitions on display throughout the month.
