Sync Up Countdown

Sync Up Countdown

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's 2010 Sync Up conference starts tomorrow (schedule ) at the New Orleans Museum of Art (map), with sessions the Friday and Saturday morning of booth weekends of Jazz Fest. Here is the essential news for those planning to attend.

Keynote: HBO's "Treme"

Keynote: HBO's “Treme“

With our deepest condolences to him and his family, we regret to inform you that our April 24 featured speaker, "Treme" co-creator David Simon, lost his father Bernard Simon on Tuesday. We are honored to have the Sync Up keynote delivered by "Treme" co-creator Eric Overmyer (pictured). A part-time New Orleans resident since 1989, Eric is a principal creative force behind "Treme," HBO's new hit series about New Orleans musicians in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Eric's  credits as a TV writer and producer include "St. Elsewhere," "Homicide: Life on the Street," "Law & Order," "The Wire" and "New Amsterdam."

Thank You - We're Full

Thank You - We're Full

The good news is that the Sync Up conference has blown through all previous records and now has more than 720 people registered to attend. The bad news is that our lovely, spacious, air-conditined theater at the New Orleans Museum of Art has only 220 seats. So we have stopped taking advance registrations to the confernece. Admission is free, and we will accommodate walk-up registrants if space permits. But preference for seating will be given to those who registered in advance, based on availability. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. (yes, we'll have coffee), and the conference starts promptly at 10 a.m. For a complete schedule, see here. Thank you for registering for Sync Up, and for your understanding.

Sync Up Parking

Sync Up Parking

Parking near the New Orleans Museum of Art (map) is available for Sync Up participants on the surface streets in City Park. Arrive early, and please park in legal spots only. Sync Up attendees parked in City Park may leave their cars there for the day and walk the six blocks to Jazz Fest. All spots must be vacated by 10 p.m. Or reduce your carbon footprint by taking public transit.
