Growing Recognition for the School

We are receiving increasing national and international recognition for the school. Students and faculty are charting a new course for architectural education through their dedication, creativity, and commitment. I know students and faculty feel as I do – that it is a privilege to be here at this unique moment in history, working with determination to contribute to the re-building of a great American City. I would encourage every prospective student to pay attention to the unique qualities of this school in comparison with the many other choices that exist.

The Tulane School of Architecture continues to build on its impressive strength by emphasizing innovative building design and sustainability in several ways. The extraordinary setting of New Orleans provides powerful lessons in the small scale of architectural detail, the scale of the individual house, the urban structure, and the larger context of regional infrastructure and ecology. The distinctive built and natural environment speaks to the need for leadership through design. We strive to prepare students who are uniquely equipped to develop creative solutions to many of society’s contemporary challenges.

I note the following recent publications that highlight our rising stature:

Design Intelligence has identified Tulane University School of Architecture as an “influential and Under-Celebrated” program, and we are now ranked as one of the “Hidden Gems of Architecture Education” along with four other fine programs. Download selected pages from DI.

DWELL magazine recently featured our most recent URBANbuild house. Download the article.
