Rain? What Rain? Treme Creole Gumbo Fest Is Still Happening Saturday and Sunday

Despite the weather forecast, the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival is on for this weekend. We're just moving it indoors! Everything thing is still happening as scheduled.

The weather forecast is for rain on Saturday. But fortunately we have an indoor option.

The Treme Creole Gumbo Festival will go on as scheduled. We're just moving it inside the Jazz & Heritage Center (1225 N. Rampart St.; map ). If the weather clears up, as expected, on Sunday, we'll move everything back outside into the parking lot and carry on as planned. If it doesn't, we'll just keep the festival inside the Jazz & Heritage Center.

All of the bands will play on the same schedule as before, with Kermit Ruffins, Shamarr Allen, the Joe Krown Trio, Bleu Orleans and the Dillard campus of the Heritage School of Music on Saturday, and Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Glen David Andrews, James Andrews, the Imperial Quintet of New Orleans and the Lusher campus of the Heritage School on Sunday.

The Jazz & Heritage Holiday Bazaar is still on, too, with a holiday sale of official Jazz Fest t-shirts and a wide array of crafts, wearable art and home furnishings.

And we'll still have four different styles of hot gumbo from Li'l Dizzy's Cafe, the Praline Connection, Miss Linda's and TCA Brocato.

For details, see the official event web site, TremeGumboFest.com.

Don't let the weather forecaster scare you - come on down to the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival and the Jazz & Heritage Holiday Bazaar, presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.
