Sync UP announcements
Panelist changes and Sync Up hospitality at Jazz Fest.
Dear Sync Up Registrants:
Here are some late-breaking updates for this weekend’s Sync Up conference.
We regret to inform you that Gerald Seligman of WOMEX was forced to cancel his trip to New Orleans due to a medical emergency. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him at Sync Up next year.
In the place of Gerald’s scheduled keynote address at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, will be a demonstration of the newly re-vamped Jazz & Heritage Talent Exchange web site – a resource to connect Louisiana’s independent artists with professional talent buyers.
We are pleased to welcome a recent addition to our May 2 panel on the International Festival Market. Peter Noble, director of Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest and one of the top talent buyers and tour promoters in the land “down under,” recently wrapped up his 20th annual festival (85,000 attendees). After taking a moment to catch his breath, he made a last-minute decision to fly to New Orleans to participate in Sync Up and attend the Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. We are glad for his participation.
Also joining that panel is Hugh Southard of Blue Mountain Artists – a Charlotte, NC, booking agency that counts eight Louisiana acts among the 40 artists on its roster.
Sync Up Hospitality Lounge at Jazz Fest
Please don’t forget that when you’re at Jazz Fest you have access to a cool hospitality area that is exclusively reserved for Sync Up registrants. It provides a calm respite with air conditioning, comfy chairs, real bathrooms and complimentary beverages (beer and water).
The Sync Up Lounge is located on the third floor of the Grandstand building. It is open from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day of the festival.
To get there, enter the Grandstand from the center, as if you’re going to the Lagniappe Stage. Then watch for signs, on the left, to the Alison Miner Music Heritage Stage and Sync Up. Take the stairs to the Music Heritage Stage, and proceed to the top of the bleachers. The Sync Up Lounge will be on your right.
For those with mobility issues, enter the ground floor of the Grandstand on the left (east) side and use the elevator (which is reserved for people who have difficulty walking).
See you at Sync Up and at Jazz Fest!
